Tala Zone
A premium core area, Bandhavgarh fort is located in this zone. As one passes through the vast Chakradhar meadows, on a rocky hill, which forms the backdrop of the Bandhavgarh fort, lies an enormous ancient statue of Vishnu in a sleeping pose known as Sheshaiya. Close by are a group of caves, some of which were used as stables in ancient times. Offers very high sighting of tigers along with oyther animals.
Magadhi Zone
This is also a premium zone & has a high density of tigers.
Khitauli Zone
This is a core zone & off late, reports one of the best tiger sightings in Bandhavgarh. Habitat for herbivorous, specially Chinkaras.

Dhamokhar zone : This is a buffer zone & is attached to the Magadhi core.
Panpatha zone : This is a buffer zone & was known as Pachpedi zone previously. This is attached to Khitauli core.
Johila zone : This is a buffer zone. Johila waterfalls is accessible in this zone. In vicinity of few villages.

The Park remains closed from 1st of July to 30th of September each year. However, during this period, the buffer zones are open for tourism. Wildlife sighting is extremely high during summers whereas winters offer a spectacular view of the fog & mist settling on the meadows. The forest is also lush green during this period.
